Why somA?
Soma Integrative Dentistry is a name that reflects who we are and how we care for our patients. Soma comes from the Greek word for “body,” and it captures our belief that the mouth is inseparably connected to the rest of the body - its systems, its breath, its overall well-being. In neuroscience, the soma is also the center of the cell, guiding and coordinating function, which mirrors how we view oral health: central, not secondary. The word integrative speaks to our approach of looking beyond surface symptoms, addressing root causes, collaborating with other health professionals, and honoring each patient’s full-body context. Together, the name expresses our commitment to treating the whole person - body, mind, and breath - with thoughtful, connected, and truly wholistic care.
Driven By Purpose
We watched our daughter struggle with a shallow latch, sleepless nights, and constant crying, and no one could give us answers. They only treated her symptoms and said she would grow out of it. We needed someone to truly listen to our experience and get to the root cause of her airway issues. Later, we connected the dots in our own family, realizing that the acid reflux issues our mom faced were actually linked to a diagnosis of Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome. This is why we believe in a comprehensive wholistic approach that screens children and adults for airway concerns that might otherwise go unnoticed. We want to be a listening ear and provider of comprehensive oral healthcare for our patients.
